Acceptance

By using Gym Jotter, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the app or website.

License and permitted use

Gym Jotter grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app and website for personal, lawful purposes.

Gym Jotter Pro subscription

Some features, including the AI Trainer and importing workouts from a link, require an active Gym Jotter Pro subscription purchased through the App Store. Subscription billing, renewal, and cancellation are handled by Apple. Gym Jotter does not require a separate Gym Jotter account.

AI Trainer feature and use of Google Gemini

Gym Jotter Pro includes an AI-powered chat feature called the AI Trainer ("Jot"). The AI Trainer is designed to provide general training guidance based on your workout history and optional profile information. It is powered by Google's Gemini large language model, accessed through the Google Gemini API.

4.1 How the AI Trainer works

When you send a message to the AI Trainer, the app transmits your message, recent conversation context, your workout data, and any optional profile information you have provided to Gym Jotter's servers. Gym Jotter's servers forward this data to the Google Gemini API to generate a response, which is then returned to the app.

4.2 What data is sent to Google

Each AI Trainer request may include:

• Your recent conversation messages (up to the last 12 message exchanges).
• Your workout data, including exercise names, muscle groups, sets, weights, reps, difficulty ratings, targets, timestamps, a 56-day rolling history, and an 18-month training summary.
• If you have filled in a Trainer profile: age, height, weight, sex, body fat percentage, goals, experience level, training style, injuries or limitations, equipment access, and preferences.

4.3 Data handling by Google

Data sent to the Gemini API is processed by Google to generate a response. Under Google's current API terms of service, data submitted through the Gemini API is not used by Google to train or improve its AI models. Gym Jotter's servers act as a pass-through and do not store your Trainer conversations or profile data.

4.4 AI Trainer limitations and disclaimers

The AI Trainer generates responses using artificial intelligence. You should be aware of the following:

• AI Trainer responses are generated by a machine learning model and are not reviewed, verified, or endorsed by any qualified professional.
• The AI Trainer does not provide medical advice, physiotherapy guidance, dietary recommendations, diagnosis, or treatment plans.
• Responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or inappropriate for your individual circumstances, fitness level, health conditions, or goals.
• You are solely responsible for evaluating whether any suggestion is safe and appropriate for your situation before acting on it.
• You should consult a doctor, physiotherapist, or certified personal trainer before starting any new exercise program or making significant changes to your training based on AI Trainer suggestions.
• Gym Jotter does not guarantee the accuracy, reliability, completeness, or suitability of any AI Trainer output.

4.5 Your controls

Use of the AI Trainer is entirely optional. You can use Gym Jotter without ever interacting with the AI Trainer. If you do use it, you can clear your full conversation history at any time in the app, and you can edit or remove entries from your Trainer profile. Clearing conversation history removes it from the device and, if iCloud Sync is enabled, from iCloud. Clearing does not retroactively remove data already sent to the Gemini API for processing.

4.6 Changes to the AI service

Gym Jotter may change, update, or discontinue the AI Trainer feature, the underlying AI model provider, or the data sent in AI requests at any time. If Gym Jotter changes the third-party AI provider, this page and the Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.

Your content and responsibility

You are responsible for the workout information, notes, and other content you choose to store or send through the app or support email. Do not use Gym Jotter for unlawful, abusive, or harmful activity.

Availability and changes

Gym Jotter may change, improve, pause, or remove features at any time.

Support

Support is provided by email at [email protected]. The current reply target is within 3 business days, but response times can vary.

Intellectual property

The Gym Jotter name, branding, website content, and app materials are owned by Gym Jotter or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, resell, or redistribute them except as permitted by law.

No medical or training guarantee

Gym Jotter is a logging and organization tool. It does not provide medical advice, coaching, diagnosis, or a guarantee of training outcomes. The additional disclaimers in Section 4.4 apply specifically to the AI Trainer feature.

Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Gym Jotter is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. This includes, without limitation, the AI Trainer feature and any outputs it generates.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Gym Jotter will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or business opportunity arising from your use of the app, website, or AI Trainer feature. This includes any reliance on AI-generated content or suggestions.

Termination

These terms remain in effect until terminated. You may stop using Gym Jotter at any time. Gym Jotter may suspend or restrict access to the website if necessary to protect the service, comply with law, or prevent misuse.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated as Gym Jotter evolves. Continued use after updated terms are published means you accept the revised terms.
